Inscription on Obelisk at Piazza Colonna I wish I could read Latin. This is an inscription on the base of an Egyptian obelisk dating from the sixth century B.C. It was brought to Rome as a trophy by Augustus after his victory in Egypt over Mark Antony and Cleopatra. It now stands in Piazza Colonna, near the Trevi Fountain.
