Western Gull

Western Gulls are fairly large gulls found along the coast from Washington state to Baja California. Around Monterey, California, right about where this was shot, the species shifts in appearance. North of Monterey, they have paler backs and darker eyes than southern birds. This was shot at Point Lobos State Reserve, near Bird Rock.
